About me
Hi Bearcats!
I'm thrilled to be serving my 23rd year as a public education teacher, my 13th year as an ESL Specialist. What a privilege it is to serve the Emerging Bilingual families and staff of Aledo ISD!
I began my educational career in College Station ISD, serving students and families through 5th and 6th grade Mathematics. Then, in 2012, I got the incredible opportunity to venture out into serving language students and families through becoming an ESL Specialist. I have always loved learning about and exploring different cultures, but I had no idea at the time that this would develop into my lifelong love and passion. There is nothing like the feeling of helping students learn, connect, and become confident in their new language, while encouraging them to continue to love and develop their native language. My goal is to enable my students to become lifelong learners through exploration and perseverance.
Faith and family are everything! I've been married to my high school sweetheart, Ty Cope, for 33 years and we have 2 adult daughters, Joy and Jill, and a beautiful granddaughter, Melody Jane. When we are not playing with Melody, we love traveling, exploring in our RV, soaking up the sun at Lake Weatherford, and cheering on the OSU Cowboys.
If you talk to someone in a language he or she understands, that goes to the person's head. If you talk to somebody in his or her language, that goes to the heart.
